It's easy to spot them.there's some on this thread already.

Every filter company has their people on these subs, reading and sometimes commenting. The filter war is sliding into the gutter. That means that you have districts that love them and districts that hate them. If you look at all of the filter posts in this sub, they all have two things in common:Įvery filter.ALL OF THEM.have their pros and cons.
#STUDENTS HATE IMPERO CONSOLE UPDATE#
When things go wrong, how fast can the company respond? When Google makes and update or students find their way through, how long does it take to correct? My advice would be to talk to districts about the support they are receiving. Students will find a way through, rules will be slightly behind, or something is going to break when Google makes an update that nobody expected. We went through a transition a few years back and I can honestly say that I'm tired of comparing filters because everybody is going to let something through at some point in time. Fairly large deployment but it has served us well.
#STUDENTS HATE IMPERO CONSOLE SOFTWARE#
I'd rather have a clientless system (Securly uses DNS, not any software to push out via MSI or such, right?) Ideally we'd like an Office 365 and Google suite Single Sign On, or just passthrough from client sign on. I don't know how any of the reporting works for these three systems. Reporting is a big deal to us - and I hear the parents' side of the reporting is nice on securly, but others have said securly has pretty terrible reporting overall for the admin side of things. Lightspeed claims it fails in their tests in most cases even days after the first search. the pagescan technology in securly and goguardian supposedly lets porn through the first attempt, but then blocks it on subsequent attempts. I've heard that securly is innovating and growing well - and most guides and articles I've found are 6+ months old so I'm not sure the same bugs exist still.

Now I'm wondering how they stack up against the competition. I've been inundated with securly emails in the past year and have taken their webinar last week. I've seen the three listed in the title as the main competitors so to speak. We're looking for a filtering solution for at school, and also at home for students.

It looks like the current administration is looking to move us to Google Suite, with 1:1 chromebook deployment. We're a Microsoft Office 365 district with about a thousand windows PCs and laptops - about 400 ipads, and currently zero chromebooks.
